Cover Reveal: Five Star Republic by Janeen Webb and Andrew Enstice

It is with immense pleasure that IFWG can now reveal the front cover of Janeen Webb and Andrew Enstice’s first instalment in their City of the Sun trilogy, Five Star Republic. The artwork is by the very talented Kerry Spokes, perfectly capturing the spirit of the novel and the mid-nineteenth century Australian setting, and also thanks to Greg Chapman for his cover design work.

We will be revealing more about this alt-history title and series in coming months.

Five Star Republic will be released world wide on 1 September, except North America (26 October), and preorders will be available in coming months.

New Release: The Wildcard by Kathryn Hore

IFWG is very proud to announce the release in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and UK, Kathryn Hore’s debut novel, The Wildcard. It is also released world wide in ebook format, and the print release in North America will occur on 25 May 2021. This novel is a well researched, entertaining crime suspense thriller, centred, as you guessed, around gambling.

Jem doesn’t do risk. He doesn’t play games with chance. At least not until his ex-girlfriend shows up on his doorstop in tears and tricks him into signing for an impossible debt.

Thrust into an underworld of card players who bet anything they can think of – favours, information, secrets, even coffee – Jem has to figure his way out of a debt he doesn’t understand, in a world where the rules are twisting, complex and never explained. Relying only on a woman who plays life like she plays a game of poker, and drawn to a young man who offers temptations Jem’s not sure he can trust, there is only one thing he is clear on: the consequences of losing in this crowd. Because the last guy to owe a debt like his was just found floating face down in the ocean, and if Jem doesn’t sort this out fast, he could be next.

Kathryn is a Melbourne writer of speculative and thriller fiction with a taste for blending dark genres in twisting ways. Her short fiction has been published in several anthologies and magazines, including Aurealis and Midnight Echo. When not writing, she works in archives, libraries and records management, and has a couple of small children to keep her busy. The Wildcard is her debut novel.

The Wildcard is available now in all good print and ebook stores and online stores.

New Two-Book Deal: The Salt Lines Duology by Nathan Burrage

IFWG is very pleased to announce the acquisition of Sydney-based Nathan Burrage’s two books that comprise The Salt Lines duology. “We were fortunate to sign up Burrage’s short fiction collection a few months ago,” said Gerry Huntman, Managing Director of IFWG, “and we are now doubly-fortunate to pick up his historical fantasy manuscripts. This is a testament to his writing prowess, and we are delighted to showcase his skills and talent over the three releases in 2022 and 2023.”

July 1099: sweltering in the merciless heat, the desperate survivors of the First Crusade finally breach the walls of Jerusalem. Concealed within the ranks of Godefroi de Bouillon’s army are members of a secret fraternity called the Salt Lines. Pursuing an artefact that pre-dates even King Solomon, the Salt Lines are willing to sacrifice everything Godefroi values to gain possession of it: the lives of his closest confidants, the only woman he has ever loved, even his very soul.

October 1307: when Bertrand de Châtillon-sur-Seine finally bowed to his family’s will and joined the Brotherhood of the Temple of Solomon, no one expected the brutal suppression of the Order that followed. Thrown into a violent and desperate search for an object known only as ‘the keystone’, Bertrand unwittingly becomes the only person who can safely lay it to rest. But can he resist its temptations whilst eluding the agents of the man who stands behind the French throne?

With the veil of secrecy in tatters, truth has become the most dangerous possession of all.

Nathan Burrage lives in Sydney with his wife and two daughters. He is the author of FIVEFOLD, a supernatural thriller first published by Random House Australia, and subsequently translated into Russian as Code Kabbalah
