Slights by Kaaron Warren is part of IFWG’s ‘Uncaching the Treasures‘ campaign, and it is the only reprint in the event’s catalogue. IFWG has a long and fruitful relationship with Warren, beginning with the multi-award-winning The Grief Hole, and followed up by her collection, The Gate Theory. Apart from new Warren titles coming out in the next 12 months, IFWG jumped at the chance of buying the rights to some of Warren’s back catalogue, and in particular titles that have been inaccessible for some time. Slights is the first of several such titles, and we are pleased to see the print version releasing world-wide this month.
A few events have already taken place with respect to Slights, including an insightful podcast interview of Warren by Jason Henderson of Castle of Horror, and a blog interview by Maureen Flynn.
When Stevie Searle almost dies in the accident that kills her mother, she doesn’t see a shining path or a golden light.
Instead, she sees everyone she’s ever slighted, waiting to take a piece of her in a cold, dark room. The person whose place she took in the queue, the schoolmate she cheated off, the bus driver she didn’t pay? All waiting. All wanting to take their revenge when she finally crosses over.
Stevie is fascinated by the dark room so she sends herself there again.
Slights is now available worldwide through all good bricks and mortar and online stores, print and ebook.
IFWG is very pleased to offer preorders for Kathryn Hore’s riveting thriller, The Wildcard.
Jem doesn’t do risk. He doesn’t play games with chance. At least not until his ex-girlfriend shows up on his doorstop in tears and tricks him into signing for an impossible debt.
Thrust into an underworld of card players who bet anything they can think of – favours, information, secrets, even coffee – Jem has to figure his way out of a debt he doesn’t understand, in a world where the rules are twisting, complex and never explained. Relying only on a woman who plays life like she plays a game of poker, and drawn to a young man who offers temptations Jem’s not sure he can trust, there is only one thing he is clear on: the consequences of losing in this crowd. Because the last guy to owe a debt like his was just found floating face down in the ocean, and if Jem doesn’t sort this out fast, he could be next.
The Wildcard will be released on 15 April 2021, world-wide. Preorders are open until 20 March, and the book will be shipped and arrive at its destination on or close to release date. Ebook versions will be available for preorder soon, via the relevant ebook online stores.
Silent Sorrow is the first title released in 2021 by IFWG Publishing, and also the first title in IFWG’s ‘Uncaching the Treasures‘ campaign. The campaign recognises that IFWG ‘cached’ most of its 2020 scheduled titles to avoid the worst of COVID’s effects on the industry, and in the period February to June 2021, all will be ‘uncached’. And they are treasures indeed, including Russell Kirkpatrick’s first volume in his The Book of Remezov fantasy series.
A few events have already taken place with respect to Silent Sorrow, including an intriguing podcast interview of Kirkpatrick by Jason Henderson of Castle of Horror, and an insightful blog interview by Maureen Flynn.
Brilliant and ambitious, Remezov is already recognised as the best earthquake predictor in the business. He travels to the ancient city of Hanemark to be received into the powerful Guild of Geographers, the youngest inductee in decades.
On the way he finds a dead scientist’s diary, warning of an imminent invasion. Nonsense, of course—except the diary explains otherwise puzzling occurrences. Does he surrender it to the Guild, risking accusations he killed the scientist and stole the diary—all for an invasion that may never come—or does he keep it and use it to make his name? He has to decide soon, because he’s being hunted by something leaving a trail of mutilated bodies across the city.
The lizards are coming…
Silent Sorrow is now available worldwide through all good bricks and mortar and online stores, print and ebook.
IFWG is pleased to offer preorders for Piper Mejia’s wonderful young adult fiction novel, Dispossessed.
Nobody likes you when you’re the ugly new kid. A hoodie and a new foster home won’t hide the creeping dread that you are dangerous. So, when you’re offered the chance to meet a grandfather you never knew, you jump on a plane to the bush-covered mountains of New Zealand.
Slate longs for a home when he finds himself living among an ancient race masquerading as travelling performers. Dispossessed and disillusioned, Slate fears being trapped in a life hiding from the world; one his own father had to run from.

Dispossessed will be released on 5 April 2021, world-wide. Preorders are open until 10 March, and the book will be shipped and arrive at its destination on or close to release date. Ebook versions will be available for preorder soon, via the relevant ebook online stores.

IFWG is very pleased to announce the acquisition of Sydney-based Nathan Burrage’s collection of speculative short fiction, Almost Human. “This new contract,” said Gerry Huntman, Managing Director of IFWG, “was an easy decision. Our submissions editors loved it, as do I. Burrage is a seasoned, talented writer, and it is beautifully represented in his collection of fiction, no small portion original to the upcoming collection.”
Nathan Burrage lives in Sydney with his wife and two daughters. He is the author of FIVEFOLD, a supernatural thriller first published by Random House Australia in 2008. FIVEFOLD was subsequently translated into Russian and released as Code of Kabbalah, and is still available as an ebook on Amazon and other digital book platforms.
In 2005, Nathan graduated from Clarion South, a six-week residential writing program based on the famous Clarion workshops in the United States. It’s fair to say he’s never been the same since.
In 2011, Nathan was Co-Convenor of the Aurealis Awards, which resulted in them being hosted in Sydney for the first time. He remained on the Organising Committee in 2012 and 2013.
Nathan has over twenty short story credits, and has been shortlisted for both the Aurealis Awards and the Ditmar Awards. He is represented by the John Jarrold Literary Agency and is at work on a new Fantasy series, as well as a side project for his youngest daughter.
Almost Human will be released world-wide late in 2022.
