Newsletter – Sep 2014
A Word From The Editor
September sees IFWG Publishing/IFWG Publishing Australia making good inroads in their scheduled catalogues of new releases for 2014.
Already you all will know we have published Star Quake 2 (and boy, what a cover it has), Against The Elements (UK version – again, a great cover), and David Sperry’s debut scifi adventure, The Pouakai (why not, another wonderful cover). We are very pleased with our new titles, and look forward to the remainder of the year.
Next cab off the rank will be the Australian version of A Magpie Called Will, by Peter Rondel, and beautifully illustrated by Frances Hutt, and soon afterwards Warren Goodwin’s debut fantasy novel, Buxacan Spicerunner. Following these two fairly rapidly published novels, we will publish toward the end of the year the following (in no particular order):
- The Andromedans: Destination, the third of The Empire quartet series by Elizabeth Lang
- The Adventures of Ursus the Bear, by Jack Eason (also illustrated by Frances Hutt, in glorious colours)
- Brumbies in the Mountains, the last of the five-part Brumbies Series by Paula Boer (and illustrated by author/artist Rowena Evans) and
- A Planet’s Search for History by our prolific science fiction and fantasy author, MF Burbaugh.
We have a long term project that may, or may not be completed this year – The Adventures of Teddy and Karl, a wonderful Australian children’s book by Rolf Svensen, and illustrated by Jeffery Doherty. It is a major project, consisting of 80 illustrations, and we are deliberately taking our time on this, to get it just right.
That will be all for 2014, and I will keep you posted in future newsletters on how they are progressing.
Regarding 2015, we have closed our submissions window and are negotiating contracts as I write. It will definitely be a great year for both our imprints, with many highlights that will, I believe, eclipse much of our past achievements. I can mention that we have a signed contract with David Bowles, a writer based in Texas, for his fantasy adventure, The Smoking Mirror. We are excited by this, as it draws heavily from native traditions and his multicultural heritage.
